Rukum bus accident leaves 10 injured, 7 in critical condition
RUKUM: Ten persons were injured, with seven in critical condition, after the passenger bus they were travelling on met with an accident in Sisne Rural Municipality-5 of Rukum (east), on Friday morning.
Police have identified the injured as Samundra Airee (25) and Ajit Airee (30), both of Duduwa Rural Municipality-5 in Banke; Dilip Kumar Pun (30) of Liwang Municipality-4 in Rolpa, Deepak Devkota (20) of Banfikot Rural Municipality in Rukum (west), and locals Amar Thapa (40), Sudha Kumari Sharma (51), Narayan Gautam (23), and Putala Airee (55).
Two persons injured in the incident are yet to be identified, informed Police Inspector Diwakar Rijal.
According to police, the incident occurred when the speeding bus (Na 5 Kha 4012) en route from district headquarters Rukumkot to Tulsipur of Dang lost control and met with the accident in Rukumkot today morning.
Among the injured, critically injured Samundra, Amar, Sudha Kumari, Ajit and two unidentified passengers, after preliminary treatment at District Public Health Office, Rukumkot, were later referred to a Nepalgunj-based health facility.
Police with the help of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and locals had rescued the passengers in the incident.
Meanwhile, police have detained the bus driver Chudamani BK of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-11 in Dang for further investigation, said police.
