Rupandehi youth kills pregnant wife for denying sex

NAWALPARASI: A woman in her eighth month of pregnancy was murdered by her husband, apparently for denial to have sex, in Rupandeshi district of western Nepal.

According to Rupandehi District Police Office, Shailesh Mallah (25) of Sipawa-6 of Rupandehi fatally hit his spouse Sunita Mallah (22) by stick when she turned down his desire for intercourse.

The incident happened on Saturday night. The wife-killer youth was under the influence of alcohol at the time of fatal attack.

SP Rameshwor Karki at the District Police Office said Shailesh killed his wife by hitting on her stomach on Saturday night.

The suspect has already confessed the crime, according to police.

The Saturday night murder was revealed only after police took Shailesh, his father and three neighbours in custody after locals reported the suspicious death.

Besides Shailesh, police arrested his father Ratan (60), neighbours Shiva Das Kalwar (26), Shivad Mallah (27) and Suraj Mallah (25) for their involvement in keeping the crime under wraps.

Police said further investigation is underway and legal action has been initiated against the suspect and others.
