Salons mourn death

PARASI: Businessmen and entrepreneurs in the district mourned the death of Nepali Congress president and five-time Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala by closing their shops from early morning today.

The Himalayan Hairdresser at Parasi shaved people’s heads free of cost to mourn the death. Several NC cadres and commoners shaved

their head in mourning.

According to Jiwabuddin Ansari of the salon, they arranged for the head

shaving programme as the late Koirala was not only the leader of the Nepali Congress but also a patriarch of Nepali democracy.

Birendra Thakur, president of Nepal Hair Dresser’s Union, Nawalparasi, said they had arranged for free head shaving in several places in the district.
