Sapros Nepal workers’ sit-in for due salary

Dipayal, February 2:

Some 22 staffers of Sapros Nepal, accusing the organisation of trying to leave Doti district

without paying their salary of five months, are on a sit-in at its office for the last two days.

“SN owes Rs 29,00,644 to 32 consumer committees. However, it is going to leave the district without informing the staffers or the community. So, we are staging the sit-in,” agitating staffers said.

SN, with technical assistance from the World Food Programme, has been running projects on roads, drinking water, irrigation and agriculture in nine VDCs of Doti for the last one year.

“Most of the projects are incomplete. Consumers invested funds in the projects by taking loans at an interest rate of five per cent. However, the organisation is now trying to leave the district without paying the amount taken as loan,” said aggrieved staffer Dan Bahadur Saud.

“Eighteen staffers who were suspended by SN are still working in the field as they have no inkling of their suspension,” staffers said.
