Property worth millions damaged

Property worth 440 million rupees was damaged when three major irrigation projects of Saptari were swept away in the floods of August 12.
According to Chandra Irrigation Management Division Office Saptari, Koshi Pump Irrigation System, Chandra Irrigation System and Koshi Western Distribution Irrigation System were damaged due to floods in the district.
Property worth more than Rs 235 million was lost when the flooded Khado, Jita, Triyuga, Amaha, Gangajali, Mahuli, and Sundari, among other streams, gushed into Koshi Pump Irrigation while property worth around 183 million was damaged in Chandra Irrigation and Rs 33 million was lost due to damage in Koshi Western Distribution Irrigation System, said office Chief Prasunna Mishra.
Pump house B of Koshi Pump Irrigation was badly damaged to the flooding. The panel board, motor, transformer, filtration plant among others of the irrigation system has gone dysfunctional due to the flood, said Mishra.
Water channeling system (aqueduct) of Chandra Irrigation was badly damaged, besides the damage at Saptakoshi, Bhagani, Ghoghanpur, Subbatole, Badaharatole, Mainkaderi, Odraha, Baluwa, Barmajhiya, Goithi, Diman and Banauli, among others places.
Meanwhile, Mishra said the irrigation system of Chandra irrigation was affected at various places. Similarly, irrigation along Kunauli road to Hanumannagar road of Koshi Western Distribution Irrigation System was damaged. According to him, they were preparing to repair the damaged irrigation, but were short of budget.
