Saptari Industrial area inundated

RAJBIRAJ: Flooded water from incessant rain for the past two days has inundated the Gajendra Narayan Singh Industrial Zone at Basbitti, Rupani Rural Municipality-5 of Saptari district.

Raw materials worth hundreds of thousands of rupees have been damaged as the water has entered the industries in the area, informed a local Shyam Yadav. According to locals, there is no proper drainage facility in the industrial zone spread over 22 bigaha area which results in inundation whenever it rains. The industrial zone was established with the cooperation of Government of India.

Due to the last year's flood, the compound wall of the industrial area collapsed which has given way to the rainwater to gush into the industrial zone through the gap on the wall. The Government has not yet paid any attention to repairing it. President at Gajendra Narayan Singh Industrial Zone Industries Association, Jivachha Yadav, has urged the Government to address the problem at the earliest.

Three industries — Milan Dairy Industry, Mahalaxmi Pet Industry and Krishna Food Industry are currently in operation in the zone while Mahalaxmi Food Industry, S and Co Electrodes, Padma Jyoti Plastic Industry and All Nepalese Tea and Coffee Industry are closed.
