RAUTAHAT: Police impounded a bus ferrying passenger for carrying saris and firecrackers being smuggled to Nepal from India.

Police also confiscated the items worth Rs 280,000 collectively from Chandranigahapur of Rautahat district along the East-West Highway on Thursday night.

According to Area Police Office of Chandrapur, police had impounded the bus heading towards Kathmandu from Sarlahi during a regular checking.

They seized saris worth Rs 130,000 and firecrackers of Rs 150,000, according to DSP Manoj Kumar Yadav.

DSP Yadav informed that among the seized items, the saris have been sent to the Customs Office, while the firecrackers will be destroyed.
