SC ruling on citizenship

Kathmandu, September 15:

The Supreme Court today directed the government to provide citizenship certificate to every child, whose father has not been identified but who has been found in Nepal, by implementing Article 9 (2) of the Constitution. Responding to a public interest litigation (PIL), which was filed by advocate Prakash Mani Sharma, Tek Tamrakar, and the Dalit NGO Federation (DNF) last year, a three-member bench of justices Anup Raj Sharma, Sharada Prasad Pundit, and Arjun Prasad Singh issued the directive to the government.
