The National Meet Central Coordination Committee of the school management

committee has expressed its concern at the Maoist-affiliated ANNISU-R’s decision

to continue with its lock-up of the community schools.

The coordinator of the committee, Pesal Khatiwada, said 23 community schools, including Harkipur Secondary School in Harkapur and Sunkoshi Secondary School in Balkhu, Okhaldhunga, remain locked. The closure of these schools had imperilled the future of the students, he added.

Issuing a press release in Lahan today, Khatiwada said the committee was against the government policy of converting public schools into community schools.
