School buildings yet to be rebuilt

Siraha, May 14

Teaching learning activities have been affected for want of classrooms at Basic School in Mirchaiya Municipality, Siraha.

Reconstruction of the school’s buildings that were ruined by rainwater two years ago has not been carried out yet.

Head teacher Bijaya Yadav said there was shortage of classrooms in the school.

The school runs classes up to Grade V. He said students were being taught in the multi-grade system due to lack of classrooms. “We had to merge two classes and teach students of different classes simultaneously,” he added.

Yadav said the municipality had paid no attention to the need to repair the school building despite frequent requests for the same.

Yadav said the school needed a total of six classrooms, including a child development room. “Currently, students are taking classes in only two rooms,” he said.
