School-level textbooks arrive in Hetauda

Hetauda, May 29:

Textbooks of grade IX and X have begun arriving here.

A total of 1,000 copies each of Science and Social Studies, 3,000 copies each of Nepali and English and 2,000 copies of Health, Population and Environment for grade X arrived here today.

Also today, 1,500 copies of grade IX Mathematics arrived here, the Hetauda-based office of Sajha Publications, the sole distributor of textbooks printed by the Janak Education Materials Centre (JEMC), said.

As the printing of textbooks is going on, textbooks will arrive in the market by three days, chief of the Sajha Publications sales depot in Hetauda Pusparaj Baniya said.

He accused the Bharatpur-based regional office of the JEMC of distributing textbooks in a biased manner. Book entrepreneurs said it will take sometime to make books available to all students.

It may be noted that the Ministry of Educations and Sports has directed government schools to stay closed till June 10.

The move came as students, demanding that textbooks be made available nationwide, launched an agitation.
