School scrapped

GAIGHAT: The licence of a school in Udayapur was scrapped for failure to maintain enough students.

District Education Office annulled the permission to Kalika Primary School of Chaudand stating that the number of students at the school was very low.

“As per rules, a school in hilly districts should have 45 students in a grade but as the school was running classes from Grade I to III with less than 40 pupils, we had to scrap the school,” said District Education Officer Dilip Thakur.

Set up 23 years ago, the school had faced demotion last year for the same reason. Before the demotion, it used to run classes up to Grade V.
