School texts praising monarchy will be replaced: Minister

Minister for Education and Sports Pradip Nepal today said the school level curriculum would be changed keeping in view the changed political context in the country.
Stating that text materials extolling the monarchy will be discarded, Nepal said, “There is a need to bring about a change in the vision of education workers along with the change in the curriculum.”
Inaugurating a four-day seminar on Adjustment of the Secondary Level Curriculum organised by the Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) in Dhulikhel, Nepal said, “Only practical education should be included in the curriculum.”
He suggested educationists make adjustments in the curriculum by including various aspects of culture, mutual relationships and social issues. The first phase of the seminar on making adjustments in the curriculum of 15 subjects has already been held and the second phase is being organised to make adjustments in the remaining subjects, Nepal said.
Referring to the agitation of teachers, Nepal said, “The teachers themselves will have to bear losses.” Saying that the minister of state for education has been briefed on all matters related to the stir, Nepal said he himself did not want to talk about it.
