School used as party venue, studies disrupted

Teaching-learning activities were closed today as the school was being used for the marriage ceremony of attendants from Janata Foundation School of Golbazaar Municipality in Siraha.

A local Dhaniram Yadav said the school was closed today as they were serving food in the school. He further added the school was being used as a party venue for the marriage ceremony. “Teaching-learning activities have been obstructed regularly during the marriage season,” he added. He also complained that garbage was piling up, but the school management had paid no attention to clean the school and its surroundings.

As many as 240 students are studying in the school up to grade VIII.

Head teacher Ram Dev Mandal said he had requested the locals not to choose the school as their party venue. “The locals tried to attack me when I requested them not to organise wedding programmes in the school,” he added.
