School with dubious distinction

Nuwakot: None of the 14 students who appeared in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination from the Shahid Jagat Prakash Jung Shah Sanskrit Secondary School passed.

However, this is not the first time that the SLC result is nil in this only Sanskrit school of Nuwakot district. The school was established in 2059 and this is the fourth consecutive year that the school’s SLC result is nil.

According to the District Education Office, 52 per cent students passed the SLC examination from the district this year. DEO Gita Adhikari said, “The pass per cent is high in Nuwakot this year.”

The headmaster of the school Hem Nidhi Nepal said the poor SLC result has made it very difficult to run the school. “The number of students is decreasing every year due to the continuous bad SLC results.”
