Schools shut after teacher’s murder
Siraha, June 11:
Private and public schools in Siraha halted all their activities today to protest against the murder of a teacher.
The schools were closed at the call of the Siraha chapter of the Nepal Teachers’ Union.
JTMM-Goit cadres had abducted Surya Narayan Yadav, 45, a teacher at Janata Secondary School from his house in Nahara Rigaul and killed him on Saturday, the Lahan Area Police Office (APO) said. JTMM-Goit cadres shot Yadav dead near his village. Eastern commander of JTMM-Goit Bikrant said Yadav was killed as he had conspired to kill activists of the JTMM-Goit .
Meanwhile, Minister for General Administration Ram Chandra Yadav paid tributes to late Yadav by draping the flag of CPN-UML over his body. Late Yadav was a neighbour of Yadav and a party cadre.
Manoj Yadav, 20, and Bhagwat Yadav, 45, both of Nahara Rigaul have been arrested in connection with Yadav’s murder, Lahan APO said.
Manoj and Bhagawat were arrested as locals beat them up on the charge of having a hand in the killing, the Lahan APO added.
