Security guards stage protest

Rautahat, December 11:

Police today arrested six persons for their involvement in padlocking the Sreeram Sugar Mills.

The six are among the 52 security guards, affiliated with the Nepal Security Guards’ Organisation, who have been staging protests against the company management for its decision of giving pink slip without prior information. The company had given pink slip to the security guards in September.

“We were compelled to padlock the Mills after the administration ignored our demand and the police arrested our friends,” said Bharat Shah, president of the organisation.

Protesters had padlocked the main gate of the Mills at 10.00 am in the morning and the policemen later broke the lock at noon and arrested six of the protesters. “The six have been taken to the Area Police Office, Garuda, and will be released in the evening after investigation,” Inspector Man Bahadur Chaudhary said.
