Security to be beefed up in eastern Nepal

BIRATNAGAR;The police administration today decided to beef up security in sensitive areas of Siraha, Saptari and Udaypur. A security meeting chaired by DIG of the Eastern Region Bhisma Prasain in Udaypur took the decision.

“The police administration will implement an action plan from mid-July to curb criminal activities, including extortion, abductions, murders and robberies,” Prasain said, adding that a ban on chakkajams and bandhs along the highway would also be imposed in the area, he said.

“As drug addiction is on the rise, incidents of extortion and traffic accidents have become common in Udaypur district. We have intensified our vigil so as to be able to prepare a report regarding the issues within a week,” he said. CDOs, police chiefs and chiefs of the Department of Investigation of Siraha, Saptari and Udaypur had attended the meeting.
