RAJBIRAJ: An elderly woman died after a vehicle hit her along the East-West Highway in Saptari district on Monday night.

Saptari District Police Office (DPO) identified the deceased as Makhani Devi Tharuni (70) of Shambhunath Municipality-3.

According to the DPO, a pick-up vehicle (Ko 1 Cha 8400) heading in an eastward direction rammed and injured Tharuni who was crossing the highway in Shambhunath-4, at around 10:00 pm yesterday.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajendra Bista at the DPO, critically injured Tharuni breathed her last on the way to Unique Hospital in Rupani Rural Municipality in the district.

In a separate incident, Phanik Lal Sada (65) of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-2 died in a local clinic today after he became unconscious in Portaha area of Dinabhadri temple in the municipality's ward no. 3. Sada and his wife were visiting the temple, said police.
