Seven criminals paraded in Rautahat

Rautahat Police made public seven people who were arrested for involvement in theft and smuggling of illegal drugs at a press meet organised in District Police Office, Rautahat, today.

Of them, two were arrested for their involvement in smuggling illegal drugs, while five others were arrested on the charge of theft.

Bigu Mahato of Gaur Municipality, Ajaya Sahani of Badaharwa VDC, Sandip Kumar Kushwaha of Mithuawa VDC, Tajir Ansari of Birgunj Sub-metropolis and Surendra Baitha of Belbichhawa VDC, Parsa, were arrested for theft.

Similarly, Prem Sah and Umesh Mandal, of Chandrapur Municipality, were arrested for drug smuggling.

Police had launched a campaign to nab the accused after incidents of theft increased at Gaur, Garuda, Gangapipara, Katahariya and Shivalaya, among other bazaar areas of the district.

DSP Rajendra Pokhrel, of DPO, said as many as six professional thieves were taken under control from different places of the district within a week.

Action against the arrested will be taken under the law of the land, said Pokhrel.
