Seven injured in Bara ambulance-tipper collision

KATHMANDU: As many as seven persons were injured in an ambulance-tipper collision in Gadhimai-3 of Bara district on Sunday.

The injured have been identified as ambulance driver Kashinath Timalsina, Rita Chaudhary (22), Pushpa Chhetri (14), Purnima Ghimere (35), Chirphakutne Majhi (20), Mira Silwal (50) and Ashmita Yadav (25). All of the injured are locals of Bara.

They were travelling on the ambulance when the accident took place.

The ambulance (Na 3 Cha 5020) heading towards Simara from Birgunj had collided with a tipper (Na 6 Kha 2026) heading towards Jitpur from Simara. The ambulance had further collided with another truck (Na 5 Kha 8500) heading towards Birgunj from Chitwan at the same time.

The incident took place in Bajeni Chok of the area at around 11:30 am today.

All of the injured are being treated at the Birgunj-based National Medical College.

Four of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

The Simara Area Police Office has impounded the tipper and the truck and has arrested both the drivers for further investigation.
