Seven killed as passenger bus catches fire after accident in Banke

KATHMANDU: At least seven people were killed and 13 injured as a moving bus met with an accident and caught fire at Khaskusma-8 of Banke district in western Nepal on Tuesday evening.

The bus (Lu 1 Kha 5828) was heading towards Kohalpur of Banke from Butwal of Rupandehi district along the East-West Highway.

The Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported that some petroleum products taken to the bus by its passengers sparked the fire after the accident.

At least 12 passengers were rescued alive, the RSS quoted a local police station as saying.

The victims have not been identified yet as the bodies were completely charred.

As many as 33 passengers were on board the bus.
