Shah family’s move
Bara, October 28:
Family of abducted journalist Birendra Shah on Sunday set off for Kathmandu to press authorities concerned to trace his whereabouts. Shah had been abducted from Dhodhia Pipara bazaar of Umajan VDC of Bara district on October 5.
Shah’s wife Umarawati Devi, son Bibek, daughter Bidhyalaxmi Devi and brother Bhaiyaram have set off for Kathmandu with a team of journalists including vice president of the Bara unit of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Ramesh Subedi, president Nepal Press Union, Bara, Rabindra Singha, president of Press Chautari, Laxmi Shah, and others.
Meanwhile, a report from Lamjung said journalists and members of civil society took out a rally in Besisahar today calling for the safe release of abducted journalist Birendra Shah. The FNJ, Press Union (PU) and Press Chautari Nepal had called the rally.
Addressing the rallyists, Balkrishna Baral, of the civil society said, “Abduction of
a journalist and the inability of the government to identify the abductors is a matter of shame.”
