Shahi assesses security situation in Doti district

Home Minister Dan Bahadur Shahi arrived in Doti today to assess the security situation in his home district on the eve of King Gyanendra’s informal visit to the Far-Western Development Region starting tomorrow. This is Shahi’s first visit to the district after 22 years. Shahi expressed satisfaction at the development work here. Asked about the security situation in the Far-Western Region, he said: “I agree that the situation is not as expected, but 70 per cent of the population feels secure.” He said preparations are underway for shifting all the regional offices to Dipayal. Shahi also said the government has adopted a new policy to provide security to the people.
