Sharma to be new CJ
KATHMANDU: The Constitutional Council (CC), headed by PM Madhav Kumar Nepal, nominated Anup Raj Sharma as the next Chief Justice. Sharma’s name was unanimously endorsed by the CC. He will assume office only after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee conducts its proceedings, and President Dr Ram Baran Yadav appoints him. Incumbent CJ Min Bahadur Rayamajhi will retire on December 12. Though opposition leader Prachanda, who is an ex-officio
member, did not attend the meeting, the CC passed the resolution. “The PM had taken Prachanda’s consent,” said Prem Bahadur Singh, Minister for Law and Justice.
