Shop set ablaze

RAJBIRAJ: An unidentified group set a shop on fire at Dighawa VDC in Saptari on Sunday night. The group had set the butcher’s shop belonging to a local Tajmul Miya, on fire.

Miya had gone to sleep at his house, which was about 500 metres away after closing his shop. The youths set the shop on fire after sprinkling petrol at midnight. The victim said that the fire could not be brought under control as the shop was made of zinc sheets with thatched roof.

He said that knitting machines, some chickens, furniture and clothes among other items had turned to ashes. “Property worth Rs two lakh was destroyed,” he informed. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained. “But it might be a personal issue,” he added.

He said that he has been preparing to file a case against a person who had threatened him on Saturday.
