Shortage of fertilisers hits Kaski farmers hard

POKHARA: Locals are facing shortage of chemical fertilisers in Kaski district due to the border blockade imposed by India.

The Agriculture Inputs Company Limited, Branch Manager Shaligram Wagle shared the problem of shortage. He added that the stores of the Company were empty for a month.

Wagle further said the 100 metric tonnes of urea fertilisers imported and brought with security escorting were provided to all cooperatives two months ago, and since then, they were failing to continue the supplies to the farmers due to the blockade.

With the shortage of different chemical fertilisers, the production of winter crops is bound to go down, it is learnt.

Farmers are compelled to return empty-handed from the depot these days.
