Shrestha warns of People's revolt for new statute

CHITWAN: UCPN-Maoist Vice-chairman Narayankaji Shrestha 'Prakash' today warned of people's revolt for drafting revolutionary and pro-people constitution in a programme organised by UCPN-Maoist District Party Office, Chitawan to honour families of the martyrs and the disappeared.

Mentioning that Maoist were determined to make the people's constitution, he warned that they would draft new statute through people's revolt to fulfill the aspirations and dream of the martyrs if they were not allowed to draft constitution through Constituent Assembly.

He reiterated that they were ready to fight till the last moment to materialize the dream envisaged by the martyrs.

Shrestha also stated that constitution could not be drafted dissolving PLA.

Coming down heavily on the government, he said, "The incumbent government is not positive towards the integration of Maoist combatants".

He further mentioned that statute drafting and army integration process should go ahead hand-in-hand.

He also blamed that national and international power centers were trying to invite counter-revolution by dissolving Constituent Assembly.
