Shut Lamjung boarding schools reopen

Lumjung, May 16:

Boarding schools closed by the Maoists have begun opening following the success of the movement. However, the Maoists, however, have warned that the schools may be shut if the schools violate the pact reached with them.

Sayapatri boarding secondary school, Sundar bazaar-based Bal Jyoti boarding school, Rani Buba-based Laligurans boarding school and Besisahar-based Brihaspati boarding school are among those schools that have reopened, said school management committees.

Bhoteodar-based Government schools were overcrowded with students following the closure of boarding schools.

Students, teacher and guardians of Sundar bazaar-based Adarsha higher secondary school and Shanti Niketan secondary school said classes have been hampered due to an excessive number of students.

Stating that schools based in villages remain closed, district education officer Buddhi Sagar Khanal said, “Government schools will be able to run smoothly if boarding schools based in Lumjung begin running classes.”
