Siddha Baba road section obstructed, passengers stranded

PALPA: The landslide triggered by incessant rainfall on Friday night has obstructed the Siddha Baba road section of the Siddhartha Highway in Palpa district, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded there.

Traffic along the road came to a halt after the landslide debris fell on the road section at around 10 pm yesterday, according to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shanta Bahadur Basnet at the District Police Office, Palpa.

As the vehicles could not move along the road section, passengers were unable to reach their destinations, shared DSP Basnet.

"Since the big rocks have fallen on the road, it has been difficult to clear the debris, although dozer and excavator have been mobilised for the same," said Basnet, hoping that the vehicular movement along the Siddha Baba road section would resume by today morning.
