Singh denies India’s support to agitation

Rajbiraj: Chairman of Rastriya Madhes Socialist Party Sharat Singh Bhandari today warned that hollow nationalism may fragment the country.

Speaking at an interaction in Rajbiraj on Thursday, Bhandari accused the government of sowing the seeds of communal hatred and building anti-India sentiments instead of addressing the demands raised by the agitating Madhesi parties.

“If the state fails to address the concerns of the agitating parties soon, it may promote factionalism and invite a disaster,” he said. He also claimed that there was no involvement or support of India to the Madhes agitation although import and export was hugely affected as the result of ongoing stir.

“India has not imposed an embargo on Nepal. The truth is the government does not seem serious about sorting out its internal problems. Hence, there is no point in blaming the neighbouring country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Raj Kishor Yadav, chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal Republican, argued that the ongoing agitation was the result of feudalistic character of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist.
