Siraha tense after Maoist leaders murder

SIRAHA: Following the murder of Ramayodhi Yadav aka Malik, Mithila in-charge of the All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF), affiliated to UCPN-Maoist, last night, Choharba area in Siraha remained tense today.

Thirty-five year old Yadav was also a member of the Mithila State Committee of the Maoists.

According to the ANTUF, Yadav was shot dead in Malahaniyakhori by an unidentified armed group while he was returning from a cultural programme held at Mahadeva in Rampurbirta. He was shot on his neck.

Demanding stern action against the culprit and compensation for the victim’s family, the ANTUF today demonstrated on the Choharba section of the East-West Highway and obstructed traffic.

Around a dozen of Maoist cadres were injured when the police used force to clear the highway. The local administration has deployed a large number of security personnel in the area.

The demonstrators also took the body of Yadav around Choharba Bazzar after carrying out an autopsy in Siraha District Hospital.

Meanwhile the police have arrested Irandev Shah, Budhan Shah, Bhola Shrestha of Rampurbirta-2, Jeevan Shrestha of Ramourbirta-1 and Harishankar Shah of Chandrodayapur-1 suspecting their involvement in the crime.
