Skeletons of 21 missing in Langtang avalanche found

DHUNCHE: Mortal remains of 21 people, who were buried after avalanche hit the Langtang Valley following the devastating earthquake on April 25, have been discovered recently.

The remains are believed to be of residents of Langtang, according to DSP Avadesh Bista, the chief of District Police Office, Rasuwa.

The skeletons of as many as 15 victims were identified and handed over to their kith and kin, while that of the remaining six would be sent to Kathmandu for forensic test including DNA test.

A joint team of security personnel deployed from the Lantang National Park had carried out a search operation for 10 days and collected the skeletons.

DSP Bista informed that still 85 people are unaccounted for in Langtang. At least 300 people were buried by the avalanche triggered by the April 25 earthquake.
