Smuggled saal logs seized in Doti

DHANGADHI: Police on Tuesday said at least 178 cubic feet smuggled logs of saal trees were seized in Doti district on Monday.

Acting on tip-off, Area Police Office Badur in Doti district intercepted a mini truck (Se 1 Kha 710) heading to Dipayal from Alitaal in Dadeldhura district yesterday night.

Police have arrested the truck driver Dependra Bohara of Ghareluka in Alitaal Rural Municipality-4 in Dadeldhura district, however, two other persons are at large.

Assistant Forest Officer Surendra Chandra DC said 178 cubic feet out of 498 logs were in finished stage. He said those logs would be used to manufacture window and doors.

Assistant police inspector Lalit Chand said the seized logs have been handed over to the Sector Forest Office Badur in the district.

Meanwhile, Surendra Chandra DC said the seized saal logs would be sent to the District Forest Office Doti. District Forest Office would initiate further investigation and action, he shared.
