Snakebite kills Rautahat man

RAUTAHAT: A 55-year-old man died of snakebite in the Rautahat district headquarters Gaur on Wednesday.

A poisonous cobra had beaten Gagan Dev Pandit, who was at his vegetable farm in Gadhawatol, Gaur-7 at around 10:30 am today.

He was rushed to the District Hospital in Gaur, but the Hospital later referred him to the Birgunj-based Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital.

The Birgunj-based health facility had declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, locals killed the poisonous reptile some minutes after it had attacked Pandit.

Dr Nirmal Shreevastav at the emergency ward of the District Hospital said snakes have been creating menace with the gradual rise in terperature.

Around 10 victims of snakebite visit the Hospital on a daily basis, he informed.
