Something’s fishy in Sunsari twin murder probe

Itahari, May 19:

Although police claim to have got an important lead into the murder of Kailashchandra Agrawal and his wife Kantadevi, a source said the murderers were under the protection of a political leader.

“A leader from a major political party is involved in the crime, so the possibility of truth coming out is very dim,” a police personnel, who is also a member of a special investigation team, told The Himalayan Times today. He, however, declined to name the leader saying his claim was yet to be reinforced by evidence.

Also today, SSP Dipak Ranjit of Crime Investigation Department of the Police Headquarters and the chief of a newly formed special investigation team claimed to have found an important lead in connection with murder of the trader couple. He said this in a discussion with the local businessmen.

Ranjit said police had arrested all but two persons involved in planning and executing the murder and that the two would be arrested within a few days.

“The duo will be declared most wanted,” he said.

Earlier, a probe committee headed by SSP Bhaktinath Majhi from Crime Investigation Department of the Police Headquarters was following the case but SSP Majhi was charged of taking bribe from the culprits.
