Sorry for torture of Dr Giri, others: YCL

Kathmandu, November 25:

The Young Communist League (YCL) said today that one of its central committee members and other junior cadres made a serious mistake by beating up operators of the Biratnagar-based Nobel Medical College on November 18, including college chairman Dr Gyanendra Giri.

Following its two-day central committee meeting, the YCL ordered Chandra Bahadur Thapa (Sagar), a central committee member of the YCL and Valley in-charge, to publicly apologise for his role in manhandling the college operators.

“It is an unfortunate incident from my side. I would like to request you to publish my apology for public knowledge,” Sagar said at a press meet at the Maoist’s central office in Buddhanagar. He claimed that Dr Sunil Sharma, who is acquainted with Thapa, manipulated them to take revenge against the operators of the college. “We came to know later that Dr Sharma had blackmailed us and the Maoist leadership,” Sagar said, adding that Sharma was out of their reach.

YCL president Ganeshman Pun promised that his organisation will not repeat such acts. Pun said it was found out that Dr Sharma misused his acquaintance with Chandra Bahadur Thapa to take revenge against his rivals.
