Indian Ambassador Rae calls on Speaker Gharti
KATHMANDU: Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar was paid a courtesy call by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae on Tuesday.
In a meeting held at the Speaker's Office on the premises of Legislature-Parliament Secretariat, the two held discussion on the constitutional amendment bill tabled at the parliament.
On the occasion, Ambassador Rae enquired about the process of constitutional amendment while Speaker Gharti responded his queries.
The statute amendment bill has been put forth in a way to address the demands of agitating side, she said, appreciating Indian government's comment on Monday welcoming the Nepal government's decision made on Sunday to address concerns and demands of Tarai-Madhes.
The topics of mutual interests and benefits including expanding relations at parliamentary level between Nepal and India were also discussed in the meeting, Speaker Gharti informed to Rastriya Samachar Samiti.
