Speaker urges unity among parties

Kathmandu, July 7:

Speaker Subas Nembang today urged the political parties to remain united until the constituent assembly polls were held, to keep the regressive forces at bay.

“The CA poll date has been fixed and all have shown commitment to hold

the election on time. But the most important thing for its success is the unity among the parties,” he said, while addressing an interaction on the election to the constituent assembly and role of the civil society.

Since almost all the laws concerning the election have been passed from the House, the Election Commission should be more active to draft rules and regulations, he said.

He also urged all the representatives from Madhesi, indigenous communities, women and other sectors of the society to support the election from their sides to utilise the historic election to the maximum. “I personally prefer election through a proportional representative system. But since the political parties have agreed over mixed system, it will be wise to accept it and exploit it for the benefit of the people,” he said.
