Sports materials for prisoners in Rajbiraj

RAJBIRAJ: On the occasion of India's Independence Day, marked on August 15, Nepal-Bharat Maitri Sangh of Saptari provided sports materials to the prisoners in Rajbiraj Prison, Saptari on Saturday.

Central member of the Sangh, Shankar Kumar Sharada, chair of Saptari Sports Journalist Forum, Manoj Kumar Majhi, rights activist Aabha Setu Singh, vice-chair of Maithili Literature Council, Satish Kumar Datta, and Jailer Satya Narayan Yadav, among others distributed sports and games materials for badminton, table tennis, carrom board, ludo, chess, and other sports accessories to the prisoners.

Chair of the Sangh, Manoj Kumar Mundhada, said that the objective of distributing sports materials was to help the prisoners find joy that would help them bring improvement in their lives through sports.

Currently, the prison holds 355 prisoners including 17 females and 338 males.
