Squatters eviction will lead to bloodshed: Maoists

DADELDHURA: Coordinator of the Tharuwan State Struggle Committee of the Unified CPN-Maoist today warned of bloodshed should administration attempt to forcefully chase away the squatters residing in the Dudejhari forest area of Baliya - 8 and 9 of the district.

“Over 2,000 strong youths are being deployed in the area to retaliate against the administration if the latter went ahead with their plan,” Parbati Dulal, the coordinator of the committee, said.

The DAO in Kailali is bent on forcefully clearing the forest area of squatters. A decision to this effect was arrived at an all-party meeting held today in DAO Kailali. The participants in the meeting unanimously declared their avowed commitment to vacate the encroached forest area. They argued that the encroached forest land area should be vacated by squatters on ecological grounds since it connects the Bardiya National Conservation Area. But unperturbed by administration's threat of using force, the squatters said they are ready to brave bullets but not give up the land they occupied.

“The youths will brave bullets and reply the administration with canes and stones,'' Dulal said.
