SSB briefing on Morang looting

Biratnagar, March 26 :

A police team headed by the Morang Superintendent of Police Gopal Bhandari today met the Indian SSB Superintendent of Police SK Kharyal at the Bathnaha-based SSB police post in Bihar and condemned Saturday’s incident in which Indian SSB border security force personnel allegedly infiltrated Sonapur of eastern Morang’s Barandga and created havoc.

“Kharyal promised to inform the Nepal Police of the facts after probing the incident,” said SP Bhandari.

SSB personnel infiltrated Nepal, beat up and looted a local businessman Chiranjibi Khatiwada, truck driver Prem Ale, Salim Miyan and Albir Miyan on Saturday afternoon. The four were held captive by the SSB personnel, driven up to the border and released there after the SSB men snatched some cash from them, the victims alleged.

The SSB men had intercepted them while the four were returning after loading a truck of rice from the house of Afil Miyan at Sonapur. Morang DSP Rabindra Sharma said investigation into the incident was underway. The four, who were injured by the armed SSB personnel, are undergoing treatment at Koshi Zonal Hospital. According to Nepal-India border agreements, security personnel of one nation cannot enter the other nation carrying arms.
