NC veep warns forces against suppressing people

Kathmandu, May 18:

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today said the declaration made by the parliament was written with the blood of the martyrs and it reflected the will of the people and sentiments of the Jana Andolan 2046 and 2063.

While proposing the declaration in the House of Representatives, Koirala called on the people to fight against those ‘disobeying’ it.

Saying that the ‘regressive forces’ are yet to surrender, UML general secretary Madhak Kumar Nepal called on the people to remain alert. “History cannot repeat itself, but it will move forward,” he said.

“The change is definitely as per the wishes of the people and even the political parties wanted such a change,” he said. “Now, discrimination in all its forms should end,” he added.

He also termed the declaration as a major transformation in the history of Nepal. “This has ended the King’s authority,” he said and urged every body to take the declaration as a political commitment.

NC leader Shushil Koirala warned the security forces against using force against the people. “This (declaration) has made people proud and it shows that people power always triumphs,” he said.

Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said every body should support today’s ‘significant declaration.’

Leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Pashupati SJB Rana, said all moves made by the Maoists so far have been successful, while the seven-party alliance could not show such skill in planning things.

Leader of the RJP, Surya Bahadur Thapa, said more remains to be done though the alliance has won the fight.

MPs Chitra Bahadur KC, Narayan Man Bijukchhe, Hridayesh Tripathi, Pari Thapa and Yagya Jit Shah also supported the declaration. According to them, today’s declaration was a historic one and it has now made the people sovereign.
