Strike brings traffic to a halt

Nuwakot, July 25:

Protesting the beating of conductor of its bus (registration number Ba 2 Kha 666) Arjun Shrestha by Roshan Tamang and Govinda Kumal, driver and helper of microbus (Ba 1 Ja 8072), owned by the Valley Microbus Company yesterday, the Kathmandu-Trishuli Dhunche Bus Entrepreneurs’ Committee (KTDBEC) announced a transport strike on the Pasang Lhamu road from today. The announcement brought traffic to a grinding halt in Nuwakot.

Shrestha, who was beaten up at Pipaltar, was critically injured, said Hari Prasad Neupane, office secretary, KTDBEC. An argument ensued between the transport workers of the vehicles as the microbus blocked the passage for the bus at Kakani. Conductor Shrestha was beaten up at Pipaltar, which lies at a distance of 30 km from Kakani.
