CHITWAN, FEBRUARY 04

General strike enforcers from the Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling communist Party (NCP) damaged six vehicles including four trucks, a jeep, and a bus carrying funeral returnees for defying strike in Chitwan district on Thursday.

The cadres attacked the bus (Na 4 Kha 3731) headed to Jagatpur at Aaptari. It was carrying passengers from Devghat who were returning upon performing final rites of a relative this afternoon.

The District Police Office said few persons that were injured in the attack were taken to Bharatpur hospital for treatment. Police also informed that the injured persons are now out of danger.

Likewise, motorbike-borne assailants damaged three trucks including two which were headed to Narayanghat from Kathmandu, and one other headed to Pokhara from Birgunj at Bhateri of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1, today. Police said strike enforcers also damaged a truck laden with goods headed to Narayanghat from Tadi at Milanchowk of Bharatpur Metropolis-12 in the district.

The splinter group of the ruling party called for the strike in protest after officials of constitutional bodies were sworn in on Wednesday without parliamentary hearings.
