Phalelung Rural Municipality folks today formed a struggle committee to exert pressure on political leaders demanding that a rural municipality centre be set up as per the government’s recommendation, in Panchthar district.

A meeting of all ward representatives was held at Machchhebung, which formed the Phalelung Rural Municipality Centre Machchhebung Save Struggle Committee today. The meeting was chaired by Hari Bahadur Chauhan.

The committee decried the fact that Memeng was the centre of the municipality though the State Restructuring Commission had recommended Machchhebung as the centre of Phalelung Rural Municipality based on consensus among political leaders and stakeholders, earlier.

The struggle committee drew the attention of the rural municipality chair and deputy chair and all ward chiefs of eight wards today on the need to shift the centre.

Memeng is not a convenient place for folks of Yangnam, Sidin, Prangbung, Memeng among others, complained locals.

Meanwhile, Machchhebung locals have decided to provide necessary land for infrastructure construction of the centre free of cost.
