LAMJUNG: A student died after a tractor crushed him at Karaputar Municipality in Lamjung on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Rishi Bahadur Thapa, an eighth grader of local Ishaneshwor Higher Secondary School, said police.

Inspector Prem Bahadur Thapa of Area Police Office, Bhorletar, said a critically injured Rishi died on the way to Damauli Hospital. The deceased and his friends were heading to their school in the tractor when Rishi lost balance and fell off the moving vehicle. Police said he was crushed by the running tractor as he fell.

Police took the tractor and its driver under control. Girija Shankar Shikadar, acting head teacher of the school, said the school was closed for one day following the incident.
