Student passes out after thrashing from teacher

Eleven-year-old Apsara Basnet of grade three at the Bal Mandir in Dhulikhel lost consciousness
after she was beaten by a teacher today. Sovit Takhachhen, a physical education teacher, was furious when she did not submit the homework. Apsara fell unconscious after teacher Takhachhen beat her with a pipe several times on her head. The peon later took her to Dhulikhel hospital in an ambulance, said the student’s father Prakash Basnet. Basnet approached the district administration office in Dhulikhel for lodging a complaint with her X-ray report. “My daughter requested the teacher a number of times not to beat her.
After she fell unconscious, the teacher fled the school taking her to be dead.” According to the doctor, the girl is out of danger. Officer at the district education office, Sharad Kumar Bhandari, said that it is shameful that teachers become so violent with students. The chief district officer, Shambhu Koirala, said that action will be taken against the assailant after necessary investigations.
