Students bodies slam Maoist threat

KATHMANDU: A joint meeting of the eight student organisations condemned the threats of UCPN-Maoist to manhandle and expel people from the district who would not agree with their ideology.

According to a joint statement issued today, a meeting at the central office of the Nepal Students' Union held on Wednesday said that the UCPN-Maoist was violating the comprehensive peace accord. "We will campaign against the Maoist strategy to capture the state power as revealed in the recently released video tape. "The video message proves that they are not sincere to democracy, drafting of the constitution and concluding the peace process successfully," read the statement.

The meeting also urged the political parties to seek a way out to solve the problems in time by forming a national unity government on the basis of consensus.

The student unions included NSU, All Nepal National Free Students' Union, ANNFSU-Unified, Madheshi Students' Forum, Tarai Madhes Students' Front, Students' Forum, Rastriya Prajantratic Students' Union and ANNFSU.
