Students take to mushroom farming

Dhading, March 12

Students at Bhubaneshwori High School have started farming mushroom in their school at Dhunibesi Municipality in Dhading.

Students of grade X, who have taken agriculture as an elective in the second optional subject, have started farming mushrooms as part of their practical lessons in the school.

Agriculture experts Suraj Pokhrel and Shyam Chandra Acharya and subject teacher Bharat Regmi are facilitating students in their project.

Suraj Adhikari, a student,  said they were excited to have the opportunity to showcase their knowledge to their juniors. “We are encouraged to practically present what we have learned to our juniors and teachers. This is really interesting and it helps us understand our lesson better,” he added.

Students said farming mushroom in the school was good, because it helped them convince their guardians to start mushroom farming professionally in the villages.

Meanwhile, head teacher at the school Ram Chandra Acharya said the school has recently started agriculture as an optional subject. “The school will be transformed into an agriculture technical institute in the days to come,” he informed.
